Today I’m just going to ramble a bit about some of the kindness that I’ve encountered since being here.

The Journey to Our Flat
Traveling can be stressful, whether you are driving a couple of hours to see relatives in another state or if you are flying across the ocean to vacation in another country. Moving is also a stressful event for most people. Now put the two together.
Goodbyes and How to Deal with Homesickness
Saying goodbye to family for this move was one of the hardest things that I’ve ever had to do. I gradually said goodbye to friends over the course of a month or so, but saying goodbye to my family all happened in a couple of days time. I had a special dinner with my nieces and nephew the Sunday before, a lunch with my dad and stepmom the Monday before, and I said goodbye to my mom, sister, and husband’s family after breakfast at the airport right before our flight.
Preparations for Moving Abroad
This summer has been an adventure to say the least! I got married and both my husband I have graduated with our Masters degrees, mine in Biology and his in Mathematics. The most exciting event of all is that in two days we are leaving our home in the United States to make a new home for the next three years in Oxford, United Kingdom where my husband will be entering into his PhD program in Mathematical Biology.
Fun, right?! All of the excitement this summer has made preparing to move hectic. While planning a wedding and finishing our degrees, we also had to pack for an international move and finish all the necessary paperwork to move to Oxford. As expected, we did some things right and others wrong.
